Gemma Casal Fité
Anthropologist and member of Fruita amb Justícia Social (FaJS)
An anthropologist, she has taken part in various research activities on agricultural development and social change in the rural world and their links to international migratory movements and the markedly neoliberal transformation of the agribusiness under the mandate of the EU’s common agricultural policies.
She currently works as an expert at the Lleida Coordinating Committee of Development NGOs and other solidarity movements and is a member of the governing board of the Catalan International Institute for Peace (ICIP).
She has been an activist for nine years at Fruita amb Justícia Social, an organisation that works to safeguard the social and employment rights of the people that make up the bulk of the labour force in agricultural campaigns, and the fight for a new agricultural model.
