Pau Moragas Bouyat

Deputy Chair and production manager at L’Olivera Cooperativa

Trained as an agricultural engineer and oenologist, he moved to Vallbona de les Monges at the age of 22 to join the team at L’Olivera, a social-inclusion cooperative that cultivates land and makes high added-value wines and oils.

The last few years have seen him combining his work with training in the fields of agriculture, viticulture and oenology in Barcelona, Lleida, Lisbon and Montpeller. He has carried out internships in Priorat, in Tuscany and in the Piedmont and has visited several wine- and olive-producing regions on the Iberian peninsula and in Europe.

He coordinates the Viticulture Work Group at DO Costers del Segre and collaborates with several organisations including Slow Food, La Conca 5.1 and the Vall del Corb Local Development Association.

He believes that small-scale, quality food production is a long-term alternative for sustainable rural development and an essential socio-economic and cultural tool for restoring regional balance.
